Establishing a virtual space for:
Collective thinking, vision and an action plan to facilitate
interoperability and evolution of web portals of Public Health
Institutions and PAHO/WHO
General objective:
Establishing and consolidating a virtual space for collective
thinking, analysis and exchange of experiences and lessons, which will
allow improving the development of institutional web portals of
Official Health Institutions in the Region of Ibero-America.
Expected results:
- Pan American Virtual Forum for the improvement of the portals of
Official Health Institutions in the established Region of the
Americas;
- New modalities for health cooperation and networking established
within the framework of Web 2.0;
- Regional collective vision for the improvement of the portal of
Official Health Institutions in the established Region of the
Americas;
- Social Network of workers, content producers and teams responsible
for the portals of Official Health Institutions in the established
Region of Ibero-America;
- Integration of Ibero-American Official Health Institutions web
portals to the Virtual Health Library (VHL), PAHO Virtual Campus for
Public Health and to the Regional Public Health Observatory ;
- Social “Bookmark” of institutional portals established and in
agreement with the Health Information Locator of the VHL;
- Interoperability between the portals of Official Health Institutions
in the established Region of Ibero-America.
Main topics of the Conference:
· Web 2.0, Medicine 2.0 and Public Health;
· Web 2.0 in the Pan American Health Organization and in the
World Health Organization;
· Evolution and trends of the Web and its impact on Public
Health;
· New information and communication technologies in the
Information Society including social networks, data mining and
handling of full texts;
· Successful experiences in the Region and the world in Web
2.0;
Methodology
The Conference will be held in the Virtual Convention Center of the
Pan American Heath Organization. Virtual conferences will he held
which will provide a space for moderated debates. Virtual parallel
work sessions will be established per specific topic by using
synchronic and asynchronic media for the development of discussions.
The Conference will be open for the general public and registered
participants will be allowed to post their input in the virtual
forums. All conferences and work submitted will be available without
restrictions in the portal of the Virtual Conference Center of the Pan
American Health Organization.
